Main Accused In Punjab Influencer Murder Case Arrested After Deportation From UAE
Main accused in Punjab influencer murder case arrested in Delhi after deportation from UAE.
The main accused in the murder case of social media influencer Kanchan Kumari, popularly known as “Kamal Kaur Bhabhi,” has been deported from the United Arab Emirates and arrested upon arrival at Delhi airport, marking a major development in a case that has drawn widespread attention.
The 30-year-old influencer was found dead on June 11, 2025, inside an abandoned car parked in a hospital complex in Bathinda, Punjab, India. She had earlier left her home in Ludhiana on June 9 after informing her family that she was travelling to Bathinda for a promotional event, but was later reported missing before her body was discovered two days later.
Police identified the prime accused as Amritpal Mehron, a 30-year-old resident of Moga, Punjab, who allegedly fled to the UAE following the incident. Investigators said he was later detained in the UAE in January, with Punjab Police coordinating with central agencies to secure his deportation. He was brought back to India and arrested in the early hours of April 10 at Delhi airport, officials confirmed.

According to police findings, Mehron and two co-accused had allegedly planned the crime in advance, carrying out surveillance of the victim for several months. Investigators said the accused stayed near her residence and even attempted to contact her under the pretext of a promotional assignment, ultimately convincing her to travel to Bathinda.
Once she arrived, the accused allegedly intercepted her and travelled with her in her own vehicle. During the journey, her mobile phones were reportedly taken and her passwords demanded. Police allege that she was later assaulted and strangled inside the car in a secluded area. Following the incident, two co-accused were arrested earlier, while Mehron remained absconding until his deportation.
Authorities also stated that a video surfaced after the killing in which the accused allegedly justified the act by claiming it was linked to the influencer’s social media content. Police further noted that Mehron had allegedly issued threats to other women influencers, and investigations are continuing to determine the full extent of the conspiracy and possible additional involvement.
