Maharashtra Woman And Husband Accused Of Killing Lover And Dumping Body In Drum

Police say Maharashtra woman, husband and aides killed lover and dumped body in drum in Thane.

A shocking murder case has emerged from Maharashtra’s Thane district, where a woman allegedly conspired with her husband, brother and an associate to kill her lover, before stuffing his body into a plastic drum and dumping it in a drain, police said.

The victim, identified as Arbaz Maqsood Ali Khan, a resident of Mumbra, was reported missing after he left home on April 3 claiming he was going to Dadar for work but never returned. His disappearance triggered concern among his family, who launched a search before eventually filing a missing person complaint at the Mumbra Police Station.

According to investigators, the case began to unfold after police examined Khan’s call detail records and location data, which placed his last known movement in the Vasai area. During the same probe, officers also traced the mobile phone of his girlfriend, Mehjabeen Sheikh, to the same locality, raising suspicions about her involvement in the case.

Police said Mehjabeen was taken into custody and initially denied any role in the disappearance. However, during sustained questioning, she allegedly confessed to the crime, implicating herself and others in a premeditated plot. Officials stated that the motive was reportedly linked to an attempt to extort money from the victim.

Investigators further revealed that Khan was allegedly tied up, assaulted with a plastic pipe, and killed before his body was concealed inside a green plastic drum. The drum was then reportedly dumped in a drain in the Mumbra area in an attempt to dispose of evidence. Authorities have since arrested Mehjabeen Sheikh and her brother Tariq Sheikh, while her husband Hasan and another accused remain absconding.

Police have registered a case of murder and criminal conspiracy, and a wider investigation is underway to trace the remaining suspects and establish the full sequence of events. The case has drawn comparisons to a recent “blue drum” murder in Meerut, highlighting a disturbing pattern of similar concealment methods in violent crimes.
