Maharashtra BJP Protests Congress AI Video On PM Modi’s Late Mother
BJP holds demonstrations in Mumbai and Nashik condemning controversial AI video.
The Maharashtra unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged protests in Mumbai and Nashik on Saturday, condemning an AI-generated video shared by the Bihar Congress on social media. The 36-second clip, posted on September 10, depicts a character resembling Prime Minister Narendra Modi dreaming of his late mother, Heeraben Modi, who appears to criticize his political actions in Bihar, where assembly elections are approaching.
BJP MLC Chitra Wagh, speaking at the Mumbai protest, called the video an “insult to all mothers in the country,” not just Modi’s late mother. She accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of lacking decency and suggested the party was resorting to personal attacks due to its anticipated defeat in Bihar. “Instead of presenting a manifesto, Congress has stooped to such tactics,” Wagh told reporters, labeling the video “highly condemnable.”
In Nashik, BJP MLA Devayani Farande led a similar demonstration, criticizing the Congress for its “disgusting” mentality. “This reflects their leadership’s mindset and shows they have no agenda, only personal allegations against the Prime Minister,” Farande said. The BJP has vowed to escalate the issue nationwide, with some leaders calling for legal action, citing potential violations under the IT Act 2000 and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 for electronic forgery and defamation.

The Congress, however, defended the video, with spokesperson Pawan Khera asserting it showed no disrespect. “A mother educating her son is not disrespectful,” Khera said, accusing the BJP of seeking sympathy. The Bihar Congress has initiated an internal probe to identify those responsible for sharing the video, amid widespread backlash.
