Initial investigations suggest that the assault was triggered by anger within the woman’s family and community over the elopement. Officials are also examining whether additional charges under laws related to caste-based atrocities may apply, depending on the findings of the probe.

The incident has sparked outrage locally, with calls for strict action against the accused and stronger measures to prevent such acts of violence linked to personal relationships.
