Lok Sabha in Chaos: BJP MP’s Remarks on Rahul Gandhi Trigger Day-Long Uproar

Lok Sabha adjourned amid opposition uproar over BJP MP's anti-national forces remark on Rahul Gandhi.

The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day on Thursday following intense protests from opposition members over remarks made by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The disruption began during Zero Hour when Dubey alleged that Gandhi had links with “anti-national forces,” sparking immediate uproar from opposition benches.

Members of the opposition raised slogans, demanded action, and vocally condemned the remarks. TDP leader Krishna Prasad Tenneti, who was presiding over the House, ultimately adjourned the proceedings for the day to prevent further escalation. This marked the second adjournment in the Lower House on Thursday.

Earlier, the House had witnessed disruptions during Question Hour, with opposition MPs protesting the India-US interim trade agreement and raising concerns over the implementation of the four new labour codes. Repeated slogan-shouting and interruptions forced the Chair to adjourn the House until noon.

As tensions escalated, opposition leaders accused the ruling party of using provocative statements to divert attention from pressing national issues. Lawmakers emphasized that such disruptions prevent parliamentary business from being conducted efficiently.

The day-long adjournment underscores the ongoing political polarization in the House, with opposition parties increasingly vocal about matters ranging from trade agreements to labor reforms. The repeated interruptions reflect deep-seated frustration over legislative and governance matters.

With the House unable to complete scheduled business, parliamentary proceedings will resume on the next sitting day, leaving several key issues pending. Observers note that such disruptions have become a frequent feature in recent sessions, highlighting the challenges of consensus-building in a divided legislature.
