Leopard attacks delivery agent in Indore, forest teams launch search operation
Panic spread through the Bicholi Mardana area after a leopard entered a residential neighbourhood and attacked a delivery agent riding a motorcycle. The incident was captured by a nearby CCTV camera, and the footage later surfaced on social media. The rider managed to escape without being mauled, while police and forest department teams launched a search for the animal.
The CCTV footage shows the delivery agent travelling through the area when the leopard suddenly emerges from the darkness and charges towards him. The big cat then leaps onto the motorcycle, causing the vehicle to fall to the ground. The rider quickly gets back on his feet and runs away from the spot, narrowly escaping a potentially serious attack.
The footage triggered concern among residents, who immediately informed the police and forest department. A joint team from the local police station and a wildlife rescue unit reached the area and began searching for the leopard. Officials inspected nearby fields, bushes and other possible hiding places during an operation that continued for several hours.

Despite the intensive search, the leopard had not been located, and officials suspected that it may have moved towards a nearby forested area. Teams continued monitoring the locality and surrounding zones for signs of the animal's movement. Authorities were also looking for fresh sightings, pugmarks or other evidence that could help determine the leopard's location.
The administration issued an advisory asking residents and villagers in the area to remain alert while the search operation continues. People were urged to avoid going outside alone at night unless necessary and to immediately report any sighting of the leopard to the authorities. Residents were also advised not to approach or attempt to chase the animal if it is seen again.
Police and forest department personnel are continuing efforts to trace the leopard and prevent further encounters with residents. The incident has raised concerns about wildlife entering populated areas near forested zones, particularly during the night. Authorities have asked people to cooperate with rescue teams and follow safety instructions until the animal is located and safely removed from the residential area.
