Khan Sir Coaching Attack: Guards Detained Over Firing During Incident

Guards detained after firing during attack on coaching centre.

Bihar Police has detained two security guards associated with Khan Global Studies (KGS) Institute in Patna after a purported video surfaced showing them allegedly firing shots during an attack on the coaching centre. The development comes a day after unidentified individuals vandalised the institute and pelted stones at its premises, prompting a police investigation.

According to officials, a group of around 15 to 20 people allegedly attacked the coaching institute on Tuesday night, damaging property and creating panic among staff and students. The institute is run by educator Faisal Khan, widely known as Khan Sir. Following the incident, a case was registered at Kadamkuan police station, and authorities launched an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Police said investigators obtained a video that allegedly showed two individuals carrying out aerial firing during the disturbance. After verifying the footage, the two security guards linked to the institute were taken into custody for questioning. Authorities have also seized the weapons believed to have been used and sent them for forensic examination. The authenticity of the video has not been independently verified.

The incident has sparked competing claims from those involved. Soon after the attack, Khan Sir alleged that individuals associated with a rival coaching institute were behind the violence and claimed that multiple rounds had been fired. However, he later stated that only a thorough police investigation could determine whether firing had actually occurred during the incident.

Police have so far arrested three people, including the director of a rival coaching institute, in connection with the vandalism case. Meanwhile, representatives of the rival institute held a press conference on Thursday, accusing Khan Sir of orchestrating the episode. They pointed to the video allegedly showing the guards firing shots and claimed there was no evidence supporting earlier assertions that attackers had opened fire at the scene.

The allegations and counter-allegations have intensified the controversy surrounding the attack, with both sides trading accusations. Police have said the investigation remains ongoing and that forensic analysis of the seized weapons, along with other evidence, will help establish the sequence of events and determine whether any criminal offences were committed by those involved.
