Kerala Rapper Vedan’s Legal Woes Deepen with New Sexual Assault Claims!
Rapper Vedan faces new sexual assault allegations as he remains absconding.
Malayalam rapper Hirandas Murali, known as Vedan, faces mounting legal challenges as two additional women have filed sexual assault complaints against him, escalating his ongoing legal troubles. The complaints, emailed to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s office, allege incidents from 2020 and 2021, following a prior rape case filed by a doctor at Thrikkakara police station in July 2025. The rapper, currently absconding, is also subject to a lookout notice issued by Kerala Police amid concerns he may attempt to flee the country.
One complainant, a researcher, alleges that on December 20, 2020, Vedan made unwanted sexual advances toward her during a meeting related to her work on Dalit music, causing her significant trauma that led her to abandon her research. The second woman, drawn to Vedan’s music and political activism, claims he sexually harassed her multiple times after they met at a friend’s residence. Both women had previously shared their experiences on social media during the 2021 Me Too movement but were prompted to file formal complaints following the recent rape allegations against Vedan.
The Kerala High Court considered Vedan’s anticipatory bail plea on Monday in connection with the rape case, where he is accused of assaulting a doctor under false promises of marriage between 2021 and 2023. While the victim’s counsel highlighted similar allegations from other women, Vedan’s lawyer argued the relationships were consensual. The court is set to revisit the bail plea on Tuesday, as investigations into the new complaints, forwarded to the State Police Chief, continue to unfold.
