Kerala Bus Ride Costs Rs 505, Offers Wi-Fi, TV, Pantry And Toilet
Kerala bus offers unusual amenities for a Rs 505 fare.
A Kerala government Volvo bus offering premium, airline-style facilities for a reported fare of Rs 505 has attracted attention online. The luxury air-conditioned service, operated by the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), runs between Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam. Businessman Harsh Goenka shared a post about the service on X on September 11, describing it as a “Business Class” bus service in Kerala.
The Volvo bus is equipped with 36 push-back seats designed to provide passengers with additional legroom. Each seat comes with a personal television screen and a USB charging port, while passengers can also access high-speed Wi-Fi during the journey. The combination of onboard entertainment, connectivity and seating facilities is positioned as a more premium alternative to conventional bus travel on the route.
The service also includes facilities aimed at making the long journey more convenient. An onboard pantry provides tea and coffee and is equipped with a mini-fridge. The bus also has a toilet, allowing passengers to use restroom facilities without having to rely on stops along the route. These features have contributed to the service receiving attention for offering facilities more commonly associated with premium forms of intercity travel.

The Thiruvananthapuram-Ernakulam service operates from Monday to Friday. According to the reported schedule, the bus leaves Thiruvananthapuram at 5.30 am and travels through Kollam, Alappuzha and the High Court before reaching Ernakulam at around 9.30 am. The return journey begins from Ernakulam at 5.30 pm, with the reported fare for the journey set at Rs 505.
Tickets for the service can be booked through the KSRTC website, the Ente KSRTC Neo OPRS app, booking counters and the corporation’s authorised WhatsApp number. The premium service has also received attention following a similar KSRTC Business Class service highlighted by the Kerala Chief Minister’s Office in August, connecting Alappuzha with Bengaluru on alternate days.
Harsh Goenka’s post has brought renewed attention to Kerala’s efforts to offer premium facilities through government-operated bus services. The combination of Wi-Fi, personal screens, a pantry and an onboard toilet at a relatively low reported fare has generated interest online, particularly among passengers looking for greater comfort on longer intercity journeys.
