Karnataka Teen Forced Into Drinking Alcohol and Brutally Raped by Accused, 3 Arrested

A 14-year-old girl from Devanahalli near Bengaluru was allegedly lured away under the false pretext of a temple visit, forced to consume alcohol, and raped in an under-construction building, according to a police complaint filed by her family. The incident took place on July 17 when a woman identified as Renuka approached the minor and convinced her to accompany her for a temple visit. What began as an apparently innocent outing quickly turned into a nightmare. The girl was joined by two other individuals, Naveen and Venkataramana, who arrived and escorted her in an auto-rickshaw to a secluded, under-construction site away from populated areas.

There, the accused allegedly forced the teenager to drink alcohol despite her resistance. When the 14-year-old pleaded to be taken home, the perpetrators reportedly intimidated her by claiming her parents would scold or punish her severely if she returned late. Under this psychological pressure and fear, she was allegedly held overnight and subjected to sexual assault. The minor endured the ordeal in isolation before being allowed to leave the next day.

Upon reaching home, the girl’s prolonged absence raised immediate concerns. Her mother inquired about the whereabouts, leading the teenager to disclose the harrowing details of the previous night. Shocked and distressed, the family promptly approached the local police station to register a formal complaint, detailing the sequence of events, the identities of the accused where known, and the nature of the crimes including abduction, forced intoxication, and rape.

Police have initiated an investigation into the case, treating it as a serious offence against a minor. Officers are examining the location of the alleged assault for forensic evidence and working to trace and apprehend Renuka, Naveen, and Venkataramana. Authorities have emphasized that cases involving minors receive priority attention under relevant provisions of Indian law, including protections under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The incident has once again spotlighted concerns regarding the safety of children and adolescents in semi-urban and rural pockets around Bengaluru. Community members and child welfare advocates stress the need for greater vigilance by families and increased awareness among young girls about potential risks during seemingly routine outings. Support services for the survivor, including medical examination, counseling, and rehabilitation, are expected to be mobilized as the investigation proceeds. As the probe continues, police have appealed to the public for any additional information that could assist in bringing the accused to justice swiftly.
