Karnataka Man Dies In Car Explosion After Allegedly Stabbing Woman Inside Vehicle

Man dies in Karnataka car explosion after allegedly stabbing woman inside vehicle.

A man died after a car exploded and caught fire in Karnataka’s Tumakuru district on Saturday, following a violent altercation inside the vehicle in which a woman was also allegedly attacked with a knife, police said. The incident has prompted a detailed investigation into the sequence of events and the possible use of an explosive device.

According to preliminary police information, the deceased has been identified as Nagendra, who had booked a cab in Bengaluru and was travelling with a 23-year-old woman, Ramya Ullas, towards Ankola. The woman, a resident of Uttara Kannada district and an operation theatre technician at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Bengaluru, sustained injuries in the attack and is currently undergoing treatment at Tumakuru District Hospital.

Police said an argument broke out between the two while the vehicle was near Tumakuru. During the altercation, Nagendra allegedly stabbed Ramya with a knife inside the moving car. In a critical moment, the injured woman reportedly alerted the driver, Praveen, that the man was carrying a bomb, prompting him to stop the vehicle immediately and step out.

Shortly after the vehicle came to a halt on the roadside, the car exploded and caught fire. Investigators suspect that Nagendra may have locked himself inside the vehicle and detonated a crude explosive device he was allegedly carrying. However, officials have clarified that the exact cause of the explosion is still under forensic examination.

The cab driver, Praveen, also sustained injuries in the incident. He and the injured woman are both receiving medical treatment. Police officials, including Tumakuru Superintendent of Police Ashok, visited the spot and conducted an initial inspection as part of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities are currently probing the motive behind the attack and the circumstances that led to the explosion. Officials said multiple angles are being examined, including the possibility of pre-planned intent, while forensic experts work to determine the nature of the explosive material involved.
