Kannada Actress Accuses Businessman of Stalking, Threats, and Harassment After Meeting Him Abroad

Kannada actress alleges stalking and assault by businessman Aravind Venkatesh Reddy.

A Kannada film actress has filed a serious complaint accusing businessman Aravind Venkatesh Reddy of stalking, harassment, and physical assault. The actress, whose identity has not been disclosed, alleged that Reddy’s behavior turned violent and obsessive after their initial meeting at an event in Sri Lanka in 2022. The complaint was registered with the police on October 17.

According to her statement, the actress claimed that Aravind initially appeared friendly but soon began tracking her movements and forcing her into an unwanted relationship. She alleged that he morphed her photos on social media, issued threats to her family, and later demanded a crore rupees. The complaint further stated that the businessman monitored her every move, sending men to her home and intimidating those close to her.

The situation escalated in April 2024 when the actress reportedly attempted suicide by consuming tablets after receiving threats of forced marriage from Aravind. While she was hospitalised, she alleged that Aravind and his associates assaulted her inside the ICU after she refused to continue the relationship. Despite earlier complaints filed with the State Women’s Commission and the Cyber Crime Police, the harassment reportedly persisted.

In August this year, the harassment allegedly took a new turn when the actress’s friends and house owner began receiving anonymous letters defaming her and falsely accusing her of illegal activities. The letters also contained photographs taken without her consent at the Bengaluru airport, which she suspects were clicked by a woman associated with Aravind.

Police have initiated a detailed investigation into the allegations, verifying anonymous letters, digital activity, and previous complaints filed by the actress. Sources said the inquiry will also examine potential violations under cybercrime and privacy protection laws. As of now, no arrests have been confirmed, but officials stated that evidence collection and witness statements are underway to substantiate the allegations.
