#JUSTIN: Two Terror Suspects Caught on CCTV, Search Operation Underway in Rajouri
Security forces launch search operation after terror suspects spotted on CCTV.
Security forces have launched a massive search operation in the Thanamandi area of Rajouri district after CCTV footage allegedly captured the movement of two suspected terrorists late on Sunday night. The surveillance visuals prompted a coordinated response by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Indian Army. Authorities have intensified security measures across the region as efforts continue to trace the suspects.
According to officials, the footage was first verified by security agencies before the operation was launched. Once the authenticity of the visuals was confirmed, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with the CRPF and the Army, initiated a joint cordon and search operation in the affected area. The operation remains ongoing as multiple security teams continue to comb the region.
Search parties have been deployed across Kopra Top, Karyote, Bhanghai, Hasplote and nearby forested villages in an effort to locate the suspects. Additional checkpoints have also been established on key roads in and around Thanamandi, with security personnel monitoring all major entry and exit routes. Officials said extensive searches are being carried out to prevent the suspects from escaping the area.

Security agencies have treated the alert with heightened seriousness due to a recent counter-terrorism operation in Shopian. In that case, surveillance cameras had reportedly captured the movement of Lashkar commander Zakir Ganai and his associate Latief Bhat in Saidpora village. Acting on those inputs, security forces launched a search operation that later resulted in the killing of Ganai, who had reportedly been active in the region for the past two years.
Drawing lessons from the Shopian operation, security agencies are conducting an intensive search in Rajouri using coordinated ground teams and surveillance inputs. Officials said every lead is being thoroughly examined and that no area within the search zone is being overlooked. The operation is aimed at locating the suspects while ensuring the safety of local residents.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the identities or affiliations of the two individuals seen in the CCTV footage, and investigations are continuing. Residents have been advised to remain vigilant and cooperate with security personnel by reporting any suspicious activity. Further details are expected to emerge as the search operation progresses and officials assess the evidence gathered during the ongoing investigation.
