#JustIn: Two Suspects Detained in Red Fort Blast Case; Nationwide Alert Issued
Two suspects held as probe intensifies into Delhi Red Fort car blast that killed 13 and injured dozens.
Authorities have detained two individuals in connection with the deadly explosion near the Red Fort Metro Station that left 13 people dead and over 20 injured. Gurugram Police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar revealed that the Hyundai i20 car involved had changed hands multiple times.
The vehicle was initially registered to a resident of Gurugram named Salman, who sold it to Devender from Okhla about one and a half years ago. Devender has been arrested by Delhi Police, and both men are being questioned to trace the vehicle’s ownership trail. Investigations are ongoing to determine whether the car was sold legally or through illicit channels.
Delhi Police, supported by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guard (NSG), and forensic teams, are analyzing debris samples, CCTV footage, and other digital evidence to uncover the origin and cause of the blast. The explosion ripped through the parked vehicle near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening, causing widespread panic in the densely populated area. Multiple vehicles caught fire, and eyewitnesses reported seeing flames, shattered glass, and tragic scenes of injury and loss. Emergency services worked swiftly to extinguish fires and provide medical aid to the wounded.
In response to the blast, states such as Maharashtra, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, and Haryana have heightened security measures. Police have increased patrols at metro stations, malls, transit hubs, and other crowded locations in Noida, Gurugram, and Chandigarh.
The Home Ministry confirmed that Amit Shah has ordered a thorough investigation covering all possible angles, emphasizing a commitment to bringing those responsible to justice. Until conclusive findings emerge, Delhi remains on high security alert as the city mourns one of its most tragic recent incidents.
