#JustIn: How One J&K Maulvi Radicalised Four Doctors to Execute the Red Fort Bombing

Shopian maulvi radicalises elite medics, unleashing Jaish-e-Mohammed's white-collar terror plot.

A shadowy J&K Cleric, Maulvi Irfan Ahmed from Shopian, emerged as the sinister architect behind the radicalisation of four highly qualified doctors—now stripped of their licences and branded the 'terror doctors'—who orchestrated the devastating Red Fort car bomb blast in Delhi, killing 14 and injuring dozens, in what investigators describe as a meticulously planned revenge strike by Pakistan-backed Jaish-e-Mohammed following India's Operation Sindoor.

Ahmed, arrested last week by Jammu and Kashmir Police's Counter Intelligence Kashmir wing alongside his wife during a raid on their Shopian home, had deep ties to JeM's Pakistan-based handlers, including Umar-bin-Khattab alias Hanjulla; sources reveal he exploited his paramedical role at Government Medical College Srinagar to infiltrate professional networks, using encrypted Telegram channels to disseminate extremist propaganda and ideological indoctrination material that twisted the minds of educated professionals towards violent jihad.

The conspiracy's ignition point was a seemingly innocuous 2023 encounter at GMC Srinagar, where Ahmed, accompanying an unidentified patient with murky terror links, first crossed paths with Dr Muzamil Shakeel and Dr Umar-un-Nabi—both Kashmiri medics then working at Haryana's Al-Falah Hospital in Faridabad; phone numbers were exchanged, followed by relentless two-year campaigns of calls and messages that radicalised the duo to the core, culminating in Nabi's chilling pre-blast video where he dismissed suicide bombing as a "misunderstood concept" and vowed martyrdom.

Under Ahmed's guidance, Shakeel and Nabi expanded the cell by introducing colleagues Dr Adil Ahmad Rather from Kulgam and Dr Shaheen Saeed—code-named 'Madam Surgeon' and suspected leader of JeM's women’s wing Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, formed post-Operation Sindoor—to his orbit; Rather's CCTV-captured act of pasting JeM propaganda posters in Srinagar's Nowgam area in October 2025 became the crack that shattered the module, leading to his arrest in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur and the unravelling of the entire network through interrogations that exposed Saeed's Lucknow hideout and her unregistered Maruti Swift Dzire containing an AK-Krinkov rifle.

The plot's lethal core was a 2,950 kg explosives cache—primarily ammonium nitrate-fuel oil (ANFO) bombs—stockpiled over two years in Shakeel's two rented Faridabad rooms, sourced via a Gurugram supplier and intended for serial blasts across northern cities; hours before Nabi's panicked Hyundai i10 detonation near Red Fort on November 10, 2025, triggered by fears of impending arrest after Shakeel's detention, police seized the bulk, but the fidayeen attack proceeded, revealing JeM's alarming evolution into a "white-collar terror ecosystem" targeting professionals, with a 10-name hitlist including Hanjulla underscoring the pan-India threat still lurking.
