J&K SIA Targets Crypto in Terror Funding Crackdown

Raids expose hidden financial networks

The Jammu and Kashmir Police’s State Investigation Agency (SIA) conducted raids at three locations—Jammu, Doda, and Handwara—on Friday, targeting a terror funding case linked to cryptocurrency. The operations aimed to uncover evidence of a cross-border conspiracy using digital currency to finance terrorism and destabilize peace in the Union Territory.

The searches, part of an ongoing probe under FIR No. 12/2022, were registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Indian Penal Code. They focused on identifying individuals inciting youth against the Union of India, posing a threat to national security. The SIA recovered critical evidence, including electronic devices, which officials believe will help identify co-conspirators fueling anti-national activities.

A police spokesperson described the raids as a significant breakthrough in dismantling clandestine financial networks sustaining terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. The SIA reiterated its commitment to eradicating terrorism and its support systems, emphasizing efforts to safeguard national sovereignty and public safety.
