Jharkhand Woman Shot Dead by Boyfriend After Argument
A Jharkhand woman was shot dead by her boyfriend after an argument; the accused is absconding.
A 22-year-old woman was allegedly shot dead by her boyfriend following an argument in Jharkhand’s Simdega district on Saturday, police said. The incident took place in Nawatoli village under the Kolebira police station limits and has triggered shock among local residents. Police officials said the accused fled the spot immediately after the shooting, and a search operation has been launched to trace him.
The deceased has been identified as Jeba Parveen, a resident of the same village. According to preliminary findings, an altercation reportedly broke out between the woman and the accused over an undisclosed issue before the situation turned violent. During the argument, the accused allegedly opened fire at close range, critically injuring her.
Police said the bullet struck the victim in the head, leaving her severely wounded. Family members and villagers rushed her to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Due to the seriousness of her injuries, doctors later referred her to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi for advanced medical care.

However, officials said Jeba Parveen succumbed to her injuries while being taken to Ranchi. Her death has intensified anger and grief in the village, with relatives demanding strict action against the accused. The body will undergo a post-mortem examination as part of the investigation process.
Kolebira police station officer-in-charge Harsh Kumar said the accused has already been identified, and multiple teams are conducting raids to arrest him. “The victim was shot allegedly by her boyfriend after an altercation over some issue. She later died while being shifted for treatment,” the officer said.
Police officials added that an FIR will be registered based on the complaint and statements given by the victim’s family members. Investigators are also examining the sequence of events leading up to the shooting and trying to determine the exact motive behind the crime. Further investigation into the case is currently underway.
