Jammu Police Nab 19-Year-Old Reasi Resident Over Pakistan Terror Links

A 19-year-old from Reasi arrested in Jammu for online radicalization and plotting a terror attack with foreign handlers.

Jammu Police arrested a 19-year-old man from Reasi district on Thursday for suspected involvement in terrorist activities, marking another significant breakthrough in counter-terrorism efforts in Jammu and Kashmir. The suspect, who had been residing in the Bathindi area of Jammu city, was taken into custody following intelligence inputs about his radicalization and potential threat to public safety. He faces charges under Section 113(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for terrorist activity, as registered in FIR No. 331/2025 at Bahu Fort Police Station.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the youth was radicalized through online platforms and maintained regular contact with handlers based in Pakistan and other foreign countries via mobile phone. Authorities suspect he was actively planning a terror attack, though specific targets remain under probe. His digital devices, including phones and other gadgets, have been seized and sent for forensic examination to uncover communication trails and propaganda material.

The arrest underscores the growing threat of online radicalization targeting vulnerable youth in the region, with Jammu Police intensifying surveillance on social media and digital footprints. Officials noted that the suspect's handlers directed him on operational matters, highlighting cross-border terror networks' continued attempts to infiltrate Jammu areas beyond the Kashmir Valley. Interrogation is ongoing to identify any local accomplices or planned modules.

This development comes amid heightened security measures in Jammu and Kashmir, including parallel raids against terror financing groups like Jamaat-e-Islami in districts such as Anantnag and Pulwama. Police recovered electronic gadgets and documents during those operations, signaling a multi-pronged approach to dismantle terror ecosystems. A thorough investigation will determine the full extent of the Reasi youth's role and any broader conspiracy.

Jammu Police continue to appeal to the public for vigilance against radicalization attempts, emphasizing community cooperation in maintaining security. Updates on the case are expected as forensic reports and detailed questioning yield more insights into the suspect's activities and international connections.
