Iran Strikes Back: Ballistic Missiles Hit Israel After Alleged US Attack on Natanz

Iranian ballistic missiles struck near Israel's Dimona nuclear site, injuring over 100.

More than 100 people were injured in missile strikes on Arad and Dimona on Sunday after Iran launched ballistic projectiles targeting areas near Israel’s nuclear facilities, according to official reports. The attack came after air defence systems reportedly failed to intercept at least two incoming missiles, leading to significant damage and civilian casualties in both towns.

In Arad, authorities reported at least 71 injuries, with around 10 individuals in serious condition. Meanwhile, 47 people were wounded in Dimona, a town known for hosting Israel’s primary nuclear research facility. The missile impact in Dimona raised particular concern due to its proximity to sensitive infrastructure, including the country’s widely known nuclear complex.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry accused Iran of deliberately targeting civilian-populated areas, sharing images of the destruction and calling the strikes a direct attack on non-combatants. The targeted nuclear research site is located roughly 10 kilometres from Dimona and about 30 kilometres from Arad, making the surrounding residential zones vulnerable to fallout from such attacks.

According to Iranian state media, the strikes were carried out in retaliation for an alleged US attack earlier in the day on Iran’s Natanz uranium enrichment facility. The escalation marks a sharp intensification in regional tensions, with fears of broader conflict growing as both sides signal readiness for further military action.
