Iran Says It Will Show “New Battlefield Cards” If War Resumes, Talks Remain Unclear

Iran warns of new military options as US talks remain uncertain.

Iran has issued a stark warning to the United States, saying it is prepared to deploy “new cards on the battlefield” if the ongoing conflict resumes, even as uncertainty clouds the future of diplomatic talks. The statement comes from senior Iranian leadership at a time when a fragile ceasefire is nearing its end and tensions remain high.

Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, who is also a key negotiator, said Tehran would not engage in talks under pressure, stressing that Iran has spent recent weeks preparing new strategies. “We do not accept negotiations under the shadow of threats,” he said, adding that the country is ready to respond decisively if hostilities restart.

The warning comes amid uncertainty over proposed negotiations involving the United States, with no clear confirmation on whether talks will proceed. Iran’s leadership has repeatedly indicated that any diplomatic engagement must take place without coercion, suggesting that current conditions are not conducive to meaningful dialogue.

Tensions between the two sides have escalated in recent weeks following military actions, including a US-led naval blockade and clashes linked to the broader regional conflict. The situation has been further complicated by disputes over strategic waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil route.

On the other side, Donald Trump has maintained a hardline stance, warning of severe consequences if an agreement is not reached. Conflicting signals from Washington — balancing threats with calls for a deal — have added to the uncertainty surrounding the diplomatic process.

As the ceasefire deadline approaches, the situation remains volatile, with both sides signaling readiness for escalation while leaving the door open, albeit narrowly, for negotiations. Observers say the coming days will be critical in determining whether diplomacy prevails or the conflict enters a new and potentially more dangerous phase.
