International Extortion Ring Busted in Delhi, 8 Held for Gangster-Linked Attack
Delhi Police arrest 8 for shooting, extortion linked to gangster based overseas.
Delhi Police announced the dismantling of a sophisticated extortion racket linked to a gangster operating from abroad, arresting eight individuals involved in a violent attack on a property dealer’s office in Narela. The group, allegedly acting on orders from a man named Jora, who claims to be the brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, fired shots outside the office on September 14, injuring one person and demanding Rs 5 crore from the businessman. The arrests, which include assailants, weapon suppliers, and financiers, mark a significant breakthrough in curbing organized crime in the capital.
The incident occurred on Main Safiyabad Road, Narela, when two men on a stolen motorcycle opened fire outside the property dealer’s office, leaving one person injured and four empty cartridges at the scene. Moments before, the victim received a threatening call from Jora via an international number, demanding Rs 5 crore and warning of dire consequences. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outernorth) Hareshwar Swami reported that Jora coordinated the operation through an encrypted messaging platform, sharing photos to confirm the target location. While the IP address was traced to Western Australia, police suspect Jora may have used a VPN to mask his true location.
Following the attack, a case was registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act at Narela police station. Delhi Police launched an intensive investigation, leveraging technical surveillance, CCTV footage, and local intelligence to apprehend three main assailants—Dinesh, Sourav, and Hemant alias Akshay—on September 18. The trio confessed to being hired for Rs 5 lakh each to carry out the attack. Subsequent raids across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana led to the arrest of five additional suspects: weapon suppliers Ashish Tyagi and Vansh Malik, handler Rahul alias Pistol, and financiers Sandeep alias Sunny and Sachin.

Investigations revealed a meticulously planned conspiracy orchestrated by Jora via encrypted communications. Rahul alias Pistol facilitated logistics and shelter for the shooters, while Tyagi and his associates supplied weapons and stolen vehicles. Police recovered critical evidence, including the stolen motorcycle used in the attack, another bike used for weapon delivery, helmets, mobile phones, an iPad, and chat records linking the accused to the plot. This evidence has provided crucial insights into the operational structure of the racket.
The arrests underscore Delhi Police’s commitment to tackling organized crime, particularly those with international connections. Authorities are now focusing on tracing absconding associates and uncovering the funding channels behind the operation. This case highlights the growing challenge of technology-enabled crime, with encrypted platforms enabling coordination from abroad, and reinforces the need for advanced investigative techniques to protect citizens and maintain law and order in the capital.
