IndiGo, Air India Suspend Dubai Flights Following UAE Civil Aviation Directive

UAE ban forces IndiGo, Air India to halt Dubai flights.

Indian carriers IndiGo and Air India on Tuesday halted flights to Dubai after the United Arab Emirates barred foreign airlines from landing amid heightened regional tensions. The sudden suspension disrupted travel plans for passengers on one of the busiest international routes from India. Airline officials said flights were paused in compliance with directives issued by UAE authorities, which temporarily restricted foreign carrier operations at key airports, including Dubai.

The move comes against the backdrop of escalating geopolitical tensions in the Gulf, prompting tighter aviation controls and precautionary measures. While authorities have not disclosed detailed reasons for the blanket restriction, officials indicated it was a short-term step aimed at ensuring safety and managing airspace concerns.

Both IndiGo and Air India said they are closely monitoring the situation and are in coordination with aviation regulators. Passengers affected by the cancellations have been advised to check flight status regularly and contact airlines for rebooking or refunds. Airlines also said additional services may be scheduled once operations resume.

Dubai is a major transit hub for Indian travellers, connecting passengers to destinations across Europe, North America, and Africa. Any prolonged disruption could have wider implications for international travel, particularly for those relying on connecting flights through the emirate.

Authorities are expected to review the restrictions as the situation evolves. For now, airlines remain on alert, with further updates likely depending on developments in regional security and aviation advisories.
