Hyderabad Techie Dies by Suicide; Family Blames Wife's Affair and Mental Distress
S Seetharam Reddy Dies By Suicide In Hussain Sagar Lake; Wife Arrested
A 36-year-old software professional died by suicide after allegedly jumping into Hussain Sagar lake, with his family accusing his wife and another man of causing prolonged mental distress. Police said the body of S Seetharam Reddy was recovered on February 9, and an investigation was launched following allegations made by relatives.
Authorities initially registered a zero FIR before transferring the case to Bachupally police for detailed inquiry. During the investigation, officers reportedly found that Reddy’s wife, identified as Renuka, was involved in an alleged extramarital relationship with a businessman named M Ramana Reddy. Police are examining whether the relationship contributed to the circumstances leading to the death.
Investigators said the couple’s relationship had deteriorated in January when the woman allegedly left the family home, resulting in repeated disputes. Police records also indicate that the deceased had earlier filed a missing person complaint regarding his wife. Officials said these developments formed part of the background being reviewed in the case.

Reddy’s father, Venkateshwar, alleged that his son had been deeply disturbed by the affair and related personal issues. He further claimed that an intimate video involving the woman had been shared with his son, causing severe emotional distress. Police have not independently confirmed all family claims and continue to investigate the sequence of events.
The couple had married in 2018 and were parents to two young children, reportedly aged around seven and five years. The case has drawn attention because of the emotional and legal complexities surrounding marital disputes, mental health stress, and allegations of abetment to suicide.
Police said Renuka and the other accused were arrested on April 21 under charges related to abetment of suicide and later sent to judicial custody. Further investigation is ongoing, and officials are expected to review digital evidence, witness statements, and other material before filing a final report.
