Hyderabad Police Solve Rs 29 Lakh Burglary, Arrest Victim's Relatives

Hyderabad police solve Rs 29 lakh burglary, arrest relatives.

Hyderabad Police have solved a major house burglary case involving valuables worth around Rs 29 lakh, arresting three people, including two close relatives of the victim. Police recovered nearly the entire stolen property, including cash, gold jewellery, a luxury wristwatch and silver ornaments. Investigators said the accused had prior knowledge of the family’s travel plans and allegedly used that information to carry out the theft.

The burglary came to light after Shaik Rehman Mohiuddin filed a complaint stating that his younger brother, Shaik Akbar Mohiuddin, and his family had left for an Umrah pilgrimage on June 23. During their absence, unidentified people allegedly forced open the main door of the house and broke into an almirah before escaping with cash and jewellery kept for an upcoming family wedding.

Police launched an intensive investigation involving CCTV footage, forensic evidence, fingerprint verification and questioning of local residents. A breakthrough came during vehicle checks near Bhoiguda Kaman on July 3, when officers intercepted a Honda Activa and detained two suspects, identified as Mohd. Younus and Pole Sandeep. The third accused, Shaik Rameez Mohiuddin, was later arrested based on information gathered during the investigation.

During questioning, police found that two of the accused were close relatives of the victim. Mohd. Younus and Shaik Rameez are cousins and relatives of the family, while Pole Sandeep had worked as a helper at the victim’s clothing shop for the past 12 years. Investigators said their familiarity with the family and knowledge of valuables kept inside the house helped them allegedly plan and execute the burglary.

Police recovered 134.44 grams of gold ornaments, Rs 12.50 lakh in cash, a Rado wristwatch valued at around Rs 1.40 lakh and a pair of silver bracelets. The Honda Activa allegedly used during the offence was also seized. Officials said nearly the entire stolen property, with a total value of around Rs 29 lakh, had been recovered following the arrests.

According to police, the accused took advantage of the family’s absence after learning about their travel plans in advance. Officials credited scientific investigation, CCTV analysis and sustained fieldwork for helping officers identify and arrest the suspects within a short period. All three accused were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody as further investigation continues.
