Hoax Bomb Threat Emails Trigger Evacuations at Three Top Delhi Schools
Terror emails hit Sanskriti, British, and Modern Schools; massive evacuations follow.
On Thursday morning, three of Delhi’s most prestigious private institutions—Sanskriti School in Chanakyapuri, The British School also located in the diplomatic enclave of Chanakyapuri, and Modern School on Barakhamba Road—received anonymous bomb threat emails, plunging the capital into yet another high-alert security situation. The messages, reportedly sent within a short span of each other, claimed that explosive devices had been planted on the school premises, forcing immediate evacuation of thousands of students, teachers, and staff members.
Delhi Police swung into action within minutes of the alerts, deploying bomb detection and disposal squads, dog squads, and special cell teams to all three campuses. Extensive anti-sabotage checks were carried out in classrooms, auditoriums, libraries, basements, and surrounding areas. After several hours of meticulous searching, senior police officials confirmed that no explosive material or suspicious objects were recovered from any of the locations, indicating that the threats were likely hoaxes.
Despite the all-clear declaration, heavy police deployment continues around the schools as a precautionary measure. Parents have been asked to remain vigilant, and schools are coordinating with authorities regarding the resumption of classes. Meanwhile, the Delhi Police Cyber Cell has launched a detailed technical investigation to trace the IP addresses, email servers, and digital footprints of the sender, with assistance from central agencies.

This latest episode follows a disturbing pattern observed earlier in the week. On Tuesday, four major court complexes—Patiala House Court, Saket District Court, Rohini Court, and Tis Hazari Court—along with two CRPF public schools in Prashant Vihar and Dwarka were targeted with identical bomb threat emails. The threats led to complete evacuation of the court premises, suspension of hearings, and closure of the schools for the day, causing widespread disruption and anxiety among litigants, lawyers, and parents.
As the national capital grapples with a spate of such anonymous threats, law enforcement agencies have significantly heightened security at airports, metro stations, markets, religious places, and other vulnerable installations. Despite multiple incidents in the past week, the perpetrator or group behind the emails remains unidentified, raising serious concerns about cybersecurity and the potential for copycat mischief or larger malicious intent. The investigation is now being monitored at the highest levels as Delhi remains on high alert.
