Himanta Biswa Sarma Reaffirms Focus on Assam Security And Development Agenda

CM reiterates strict stance on infiltration while pledging swift development and manifesto delivery.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said his government would make no compromise on the state’s security while continuing to place equal emphasis on development, reiterating that all promises made by the BJP-led alliance before the Assembly elections would be fulfilled through “action, not words”.

Addressing reporters in Guwahati, Sarma said the government’s core responsibility was to safeguard Assam’s identity while ensuring that development reaches all sections of society. He stressed that both security and progress would remain central pillars of his administration’s governance approach in the current term.

He further said the impact of the government’s priorities would be visible through its work rather than statements, adding that public service delivery would define the administration’s performance. “Work will speak for itself. Mere words have no value now. The time for speeches and election campaigning is over,” he said, underscoring a shift toward implementation-focused governance.

Referring to the BJP’s election manifesto, the Chief Minister said the government was committed to fulfilling every pledge made to the electorate. He added that the administration would focus on translating electoral commitments into measurable outcomes on the ground, reinforcing what he described as a results-oriented governance model.

Sarma also made strong political remarks directed at elements he described as threats to Assam’s peace and cultural identity, reiterating that the government would continue its firm stance on issues such as illegal infiltration, communal tensions, and law-and-order concerns. He said there would be “no compromise” on the state’s security and that actions taken before the elections would continue with the same resolve during the current tenure.
