Her Leg Had to Be Amputated: Family Alleges Six-Day Delay By UP Doctor Led to Five-Year-Old's Disability

A Banda doctor faces an FIR after a five-year-old's leg was amputated following an alleged six-day surgical delay.

A case of alleged medical negligence has been registered against a doctor at Rani Durgavati Medical College after a five-year-old girl’s leg had to be amputated following complications from an injury. The complaint was filed months after the incident, with the child’s family accusing hospital authorities of delayed treatment.

According to the family, the child sustained injuries after falling from the roof of her house. She was taken for treatment soon after the incident, but her condition reportedly worsened over time. The family has alleged that the seriousness of her injuries was not properly assessed in the initial stages.

They further claimed that despite repeated requests to the attending doctor, no significant medical action was taken for nearly six days. This delay, they allege, led to the development of a severe infection, which ultimately made amputation of the child’s left leg unavoidable.
