Heart Wrenching Story! Kerala Mother Hands Over Drug-Addicted Son to Police
Kerala Mother Hands Over Drug-Addicted Son to Police After Years of Struggle
In a heart-wrenching decision, Mini, a homemaker from Elathur in Kozhikode, Kerala, turned her 26-year-old son Rahul over to the police on Friday after he allegedly threatened to kill her and other family members.
Driven to her breaking point by Rahul’s persistent drug addiction and violent behavior, Mini informed authorities, leading to his arrest from their home.
Rahul, a habitual offender with a string of criminal cases, had been using narcotics since age 13, a fact Mini discovered only when he was 18 or 19. Despite repeated attempts to rehabilitate him through doctors and de-addiction centers, Rahul relapsed each time, sourcing drugs and resuming his destructive habits.
“I tried everything to save him,” Mini told a local TV channel. “But this time, my mind is like a rock—I won’t repeat my past mistakes.”
Mini’s ordeal included a prior complaint against Rahul after he assaulted a child in the family—biting the child in a fit of rage over money for drugs—leading to a POCSO case. Moved by his pleas from jail, she had secured his bail, only to see him revert to violence. His latest threats pushed her to act decisively.
“He’s been arrested in the POCSO case now,” a senior police officer confirmed, noting Rahul faces multiple charges statewide, including theft and drug-related offenses. A long-pending court warrant facilitated his arrest after Mini’s tip-off.
The case underscores Kerala’s growing drug menace and the toll it takes on families, with Mini’s resolve reflecting both despair and a desperate hope for accountability.
