Guwahati Police Seize Refrigerator For Forensic Examination In Woman’s Murder Case

Police Seize Fridge In Murder Investigation

Guwahati Police seized several pieces of evidence from the residence of 25-year-old Riya Talukdar, who was found dead at her home with her severed head allegedly stored inside a refrigerator. The action was taken days after the discovery as investigators continued probing the circumstances surrounding her death. Talukdar’s husband, Ramanuj Goswami, who has been identified as the main accused, was also taken to the residence by police on Wednesday as part of the investigation.

According to police sources, the exercise was conducted in the presence of a magistrate, while investigators examined the house and documented the proceedings on video. The inspection was intended to help investigators gather and preserve evidence connected to the alleged killing. Goswami’s presence at the residence formed part of the police investigation as officers continued examining the sequence of events surrounding Talukdar’s death.

Among the items seized by investigators was the refrigerator in which Talukdar’s severed head was allegedly kept after the killing. Police also took possession of clothes reportedly worn by the victim and a sharp-edged weapon suspected to have been used in the crime. The seized items are expected to form part of the evidence being examined by investigators as they work to establish what happened inside the residence.

Police are also investigating allegations about the circumstances that may have led to the killing. According to the allegations being examined, Goswami suspected that his wife was involved in an extramarital relationship. Investigators are looking into whether the alleged suspicion played a role in the events leading to Talukdar’s death. The probe is also examining claims that an attempt was made to sever her fingers and other body parts, although the alleged attempt was not completed.

The recovery and seizure of the refrigerator, clothing and suspected weapon are significant developments in the investigation because they could help investigators reconstruct events at the residence. Police are continuing to examine physical evidence and record the findings from the scene. The presence of a magistrate during the proceedings and the video documentation were part of the evidence-gathering process described by police sources.

Goswami remains the main accused in the case as investigators continue to establish the circumstances of Talukdar’s death and examine the allegations against him. Police are expected to rely on forensic examination of the seized material along with other evidence collected during the investigation. Further details about the motive and sequence of events will depend on the findings of the ongoing probe and the evidence gathered by authorities.
