Gurgaon Woman Booked For Negligence After Domestic Worker's Death in Thar Accident

A 57-year-old domestic worker died after being run over by a Mahindra Thar while resting in the stilt parking area of a residential apartment building in Gurgaon, Haryana, on Tuesday afternoon. According to police, the woman driving the SUV initially rushed the victim to a private hospital after the accident. However, after doctors declared the victim dead, the driver allegedly brought the body back to the apartment complex and left it at the scene of the incident. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
The deceased has been identified as Guddi Devi, a native of Mahoba district in Uttar Pradesh. She had been living with her family in Bhondsi and worked as a domestic helper at Ansal Versalia Society in Sector 67, where the accident occurred. Police said Guddi Devi was resting in the stilt parking area of the four-storey residential building when the Mahindra Thar allegedly ran over her.
Investigators said the woman driving the vehicle resides on the fourth floor of the same building. After the collision, she reportedly transported Guddi Devi to a nearby private hospital in an attempt to secure medical treatment. Doctors, however, declared the victim dead on arrival. Police alleged that instead of informing authorities immediately, the driver returned with the body and left it at the location where the accident had taken place.

The identity of the woman driver has not been disclosed by the police. She has been booked under provisions related to causing death by negligence and rash and negligent driving. Officials said the accused has not yet been arrested, and further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the ongoing investigation. The red Mahindra Thar involved in the incident has been seized for forensic examination and as part of the investigation.
Police teams have begun collecting evidence from the apartment complex, including CCTV footage and statements from residents and witnesses who may have seen the incident or its aftermath. Investigators are also examining the sequence of events between the accident, the victim's transport to the hospital and the alleged return of the body to establish the complete timeline and determine whether any additional offences were committed.
The incident has shocked residents of the housing society and raised concerns about safety in residential parking areas. Police have assured that all aspects of the case are being thoroughly investigated and that appropriate action will be taken based on the evidence collected. Further developments, including the arrest of the accused and the results of the investigation, are awaited.
