Gujarat Jaish Operatives Underwent Toxic Gas And Bomb Training In J&K: Police

Police allege advanced terror training before Gujarat arrests.

The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has revealed significant findings in its investigation into an alleged Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror module following the arrest of several suspects, who were produced before the Kadi Court in Mehsana district. According to investigators, two of the accused had travelled to Jammu and Kashmir, where they allegedly received specialised training in handling AK-47 assault rifles and other terror-related activities. The ATS stated that the investigation is ongoing to determine the full extent of the network and identify any additional associates linked to the case.

Officials said the suspects allegedly underwent extensive training in nearly 40 different terror techniques under the guidance of an overseas handler identified as Abdullah. Investigators claim the training included methods of manufacturing improvised explosive devices (IEDs) as well as instructions on producing toxic carbon monoxide gas using commonly available organic materials. The ATS further alleged that members of the module travelled to Vadodara to establish contact with a Kashmiri youth as part of their operational and logistical planning.

According to the ATS, the accused did not limit themselves to theoretical instruction but also carried out practical bomb tests at eight different locations. Investigators said forensic teams have recovered discarded materials, including sodium phosphate and electrical wiring, which were allegedly thrown into public garbage bins after the trial explosions. These items have been seized for scientific examination as authorities work to verify the evidence and reconstruct the group's activities.

The investigation has also revealed that the alleged module received around ₹3 lakh from its overseas handler, which investigators say was used to purchase a car and a motorcycle for reconnaissance missions. ATS officials alleged that the suspects had been surveying a garden-style hotel in Ahmedabad as a potential target before they were arrested. During searches conducted at locations linked to the accused, investigators recovered 43 books and digital manuals containing extremist material, which they allege were used by the group's suspected mastermind, Amin Shera, to radicalise local youth at a madrasa in Khadiasan.

The Gujarat ATS has described the arrests as a major breakthrough in preventing a possible terror plot and said further investigations are underway to uncover the full scope of the alleged conspiracy. Authorities are examining digital devices, financial transactions, and communication records to trace the network's domestic and international links. The allegations made by investigators are expected to be tested during the judicial process, while security agencies continue efforts to prevent extremist activities and strengthen counter-terrorism measures across the region.
