Gujarat ATS Detains Two In Connection With Alleged Attack Conspiracy
Gujarat ATS arrests two in alleged attack plot case
The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad has arrested two individuals for allegedly plotting anti-national activities, including plans to wage war against the country through radicalisation and recruitment efforts conducted via social media, officials said on Tuesday.
According to investigators, the accused were allegedly involved in developing a network aimed at influencing and radicalising individuals online. Authorities claim the duo used encrypted communication channels and social media platforms to spread extremist ideology and attempt to recruit vulnerable youth into their network.
The ATS stated that preliminary findings suggest the accused were not acting in isolation and may have been in contact with external handlers and radical elements. Officials added that the suspects were allegedly discussing plans involving the procurement of arms and explosives, as part of a broader conspiracy to carry out attacks targeting sensitive locations and individuals.

Security agencies further said the operation was the result of sustained surveillance and intelligence inputs tracking online radicalisation activities. The ATS has been monitoring digital platforms for potential threats and flagged suspicious communications that eventually led to the arrests.
Officials also indicated that the accused were allegedly inspired by extremist ideology and were attempting to build a structured network with defined operational roles. The investigation is now focused on identifying additional associates, financial links, and any cross-border connections that may have supported the alleged conspiracy.
The arrests come amid a series of recent counter-terrorism operations in Gujarat, where security agencies have intensified crackdowns on suspected radicalisation modules. Authorities have reiterated that investigations are ongoing and further details will be shared as evidence is verified and additional suspects are questioned.
