Gangster Anmol Bishnoi Seeks Bulletproof Protection from Pakistani Rival's Kill Threat
Anmol Bishnoi files court plea for armed security amid threats from Pakistan-based gangster Shehzad Bhatti.
Anmol Bishnoi, brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and the 19th accused arrested in the terror-gangster syndicate, has filed a protection plea in a Delhi court citing fears of being killed by Pakistani gangster Shehzad Bhatti over social media posts. Deported from the US and arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on November 18 upon arrival, Anmol remains in NIA custody, extended till December 5 by Special Judge Prashant Sharma during an unprecedented hearing held inside NIA headquarters on Saturday. The plea highlights his family's "constant fear and mental trauma," urging bulletproof vehicle transport, jackets, and a threat assessment during court transits.
The application, filed November 27, stresses that online threats have materialized into real violence in recent cases, demanding armed police escorts from NIA headquarters to court. NIA Special Public Prosecutor Rahul Tyagi noted Anmol's disclosures necessitate further interrogation on syndicate networks, with custody extended seven days from the initial 11-day remand granted November 19. Defence counsel requested the in-headquarters hearing for security.
Anmol faces charges in high-profile crimes including the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique, April 2024 firing at Salman Khan's residence, Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala's killing, over 35 murders, 20 kidnappings, and extortion via terror links. Absconding since 2022, he operated from the US using alleged fake passports, providing logistics, weapons, and instructions to Indian operatives alongside Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar, as per NIA's March 2023 chargesheet in RC 39/2022 probing gangster-terror-arms nexuses.

Court directives include medical exams every 48 hours, video recording of custody transits, and safety precautions, reflecting the high-risk profile equated by NIA to Dawood Ibrahim's D-Company in operational scale. Investigators seek details on funding, associates, and social media claims of responsibility.
