Four College Students Arrested for Blocking School Van, Threatening Class 12 Student

Gurugram students held for threatening Class 12 boy.

In a grave incident that has heightened apprehensions regarding the safety of schoolchildren in urban areas, Gurugram police have taken into custody four college students accused of orchestrating a premeditated ambush on a school van, utilising two luxury vehicles to block its path and intimidating a Class 12 student through the display of what initially appeared to be a lethal firearm, subsequently confirmed as a toy gun replica.

The arrested individuals, identified as Pankaj aged 23, Neeraj aged 20, Prince aged 20—all hailing from Badshahpur—and Himanshu aged 22 from Sector 49 in Gurugram, were detained on Tuesday pursuant to a detailed complaint filed by the affected student's father. Law enforcement officials have confiscated the two Fortuner SUVs deployed in the operation, alongside recovering a wooden stick and the imitation pistol employed to instil fear during the confrontation.

The episode transpired on Monday afternoon in the vicinity of Signature Tower, where the school van transporting the student homeward following his examination was abruptly halted at a bus stop by the deliberate positioning of the accused's vehicles, effectively trapping the van and preventing any immediate escape.

As per the father's account in the formal complaint, the perpetrators proceeded to issue dire threats directed at both the van driver and the young passenger, flourishing the toy gun while verbally warning of fatal consequences, thereby engendering a profound sense of panic and endangerment. This prompted the immediate registration of a First Information Report at the Civil Lines police station, facilitating a rapid investigative response that culminated in the apprehension of the four college-enrolled suspects.

Interrogation sessions revealed that Neeraj confessed to the underlying motive being a longstanding grudge originating from an altercation involving his brother and the targeted student approximately six months prior, which allegedly spurred the group to devise and execute this retaliatory scheme. Authorities have indicated that further questioning of the detained individuals remains in progress to uncover additional particulars and ensure a comprehensive understanding of the circumstances surrounding the event.
