According to preliminary police investigation, the group was reportedly returning after attending a birthday celebration of Manoj Patel, Vice-President of the Amarpatan Janpad Panchayat, when the accident took place. Police officials suspect that excessive speed and loss of control by the SUV driver may have caused the crash, though the exact reason will be confirmed after a detailed investigation.

Nadan Dehat police station in-charge Panchraj Singh confirmed that a case has been registered and an investigation has been initiated to determine the circumstances leading to the collision.
