Five BJP Workers Injured After Alleged Bomb Attack In West Bengal’s Karimpur

Five BJP workers injured in alleged bomb attack in Karimpur.

Tension escalated in Karimpur of West Bengal’s Nadia district after an alleged bomb attack targeting Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers left at least five people injured. The incident occurred on Thursday and has triggered a political confrontation between the BJP and the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), with both parties presenting conflicting accounts of the attack.

According to local sources, the incident took place in the Sahebpara area under Karimpur-II Block when a group of BJP workers was returning home after attending a public welfare programme. It is alleged that unidentified assailants hurled crude bombs at the group, resulting in multiple injuries. The explosions reportedly caused panic in the locality and led to an immediate police response.

The injured workers were initially taken to Nadidanga Primary Health Centre for treatment. However, as the condition of some of the victims reportedly worsened, they were referred to Berhampore Medical College and Hospital for specialised medical care. Authorities have not yet released an official update on the severity of the injuries.

Following the incident, personnel from Thanarpara Police Station reached the site and began an investigation. Police officials are examining evidence, speaking with witnesses, and attempting to establish the sequence of events that led to the attack. Security has also been increased in the area to prevent any further escalation of tensions.

Local BJP leaders have alleged that the attack was carried out by individuals linked to the Trinamool Congress, accusing the ruling party of orchestrating political violence against opposition workers. They have demanded strict action against those responsible and called for a fair investigation into the matter.

The Trinamool Congress has rejected the allegations, describing them as politically motivated and denying any involvement in the incident. Police officials have stated that the investigation is ongoing and that conclusions will be drawn only after all facts and evidence have been thoroughly examined. The incident has once again brought attention to concerns over political violence in parts of West Bengal.
