Father-Son Duo Gunned Down in Revenge for 2011 Murder They Were Acquitted Of

Father and son shot dead in Uttar Pradesh's Sitapur over 14-year-old enmity tied to a 2011 murder case.

A shocking incident of revenge killing has rocked Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur district, where a 60-year-old man and his son were shot dead by unidentified assailants. Police believe the brutal attack was the result of an old enmity that had remained unresolved for more than a decade. The incident took place on Friday in a village under the Imalia Sultanpur police station area.

The victims, identified as Akhtar and his 38-year-old son Maiser, were attacked while returning home from their agricultural fields. According to Superintendent of Police Ankur Agarwal, the assailants intercepted the duo and opened fire, killing them on the spot. The sudden violence has sent shockwaves through the local community.

Police officials revealed that the roots of the crime trace back to 2011, when Akhtar and his son were accused in a murder case involving a member of the attackers’ family. Although both were later acquitted by a court, the rivalry between the two sides allegedly continued to simmer over the years. Investigators believe this lingering hostility ultimately led to the double murder.

Terming the killings an act of revenge, SP Agarwal said the situation is sensitive as the dispute involves members of two different communities. To prevent any escalation, police forces from multiple stations have been deployed in and around the village. Authorities are maintaining a strict vigil to ensure law and order.

Multiple police teams have been formed to track down and arrest the accused at the earliest. A formal case has been registered, and officials confirmed that individuals named by the victims’ family will be taken into custody soon. The investigation is ongoing as police work to bring those responsible to justice.
