#BreakingNews: Father Murders Twins After Domestic Dispute, Surrenders to Police
Maharashtra man slits daughters’ throats in forest rage.
A 28-year-old father turned a domestic spat into unimaginable horror Saturday, slitting the throats of his two-year-old twin daughters in a Buldhana forest before calmly surrendering at Washim police station. Identified as Rahul Chavan, the accused erupted after his wife abandoned their journey mid-argument and headed to her parents’ home, leaving him alone with the toddlers.
The family was traveling by car when the quarrel escalated near Ancharwadi village. Witnesses reported heated exchanges over money and in-laws. As the wife boarded a bus to her village, Chavan allegedly bundled the sleeping twins into the backseat and veered off the highway into dense woodland. There, in a secluded clearing, he used a kitchen knife to sever the girls’ throats, police revealed after recovering the blood-soaked weapon.
Chavan then drove 40 kilometers to Washim police station, walked in with bloodstained clothes, and confessed: “I killed my daughters.” Officers initially suspected a hoax until he led them to the bodies, partially concealed under leaves. DySP Manisha Kadam confirmed both children died from deep neck lacerations, with forensic teams now examining burn marks on the remains to determine if an attempt was made to destroy evidence.

The twins, Aarohi and Aaradhya, celebrated their second birthday just last month. Neighbors described Chavan as a quiet auto-driver with a history of alcohol-fueled disputes. The wife, unreachable for comment, collapsed upon learning the news at her parental home. Child rights activists have condemned the incident, demanding urgent domestic violence counseling in rural Maharashtra, where 47 child murders linked to parental disputes were reported in 2024 alone.
Police have charged Chavan with double murder under IPC Section 302 and the POCSO Act. A special investigation team is probing marital discord records, including prior complaints filed by the wife. The bodies undergo autopsy at Government Medical College, Akola, as the village mourns two lives extinguished in a moment of blind rage.
