Mother-son deaths on farm trigger probe into suspected suicide case.

In a tragic incident in the Pune district of Maharashtra, a 35-year-old farmer and his 63-year-old mother were found dead on their agricultural land in Indapur, with police suspecting suicide as the preliminary cause. The deaths of the mother-son duo have left the local community in shock, raising concerns over the circumstances that led to such an extreme step.

The deceased have been identified as Atul Tukaram Jadhav and his mother Suman Tukaram Jadhav, both residents of the Amrai Mala area in Sarafwadi village. According to police officials, the two were living together and were engaged in farming activities in the region, which is largely dependent on agriculture for livelihood.

Officials from the Pune Rural police said that the bodies were discovered early Monday morning at around 6 am. They were found hanging from two different trees on their farm in Sarafwadi, a village located about 140 kilometres from Pune city. The discovery was made by locals, who then informed the authorities, prompting immediate police action at the scene.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the incident may be linked to a domestic dispute, although police have stated that all possible angles are being examined. Investigators are recording statements from family members, neighbours, and other relevant individuals to understand the sequence of events and the factors that may have contributed to the deaths.

Police have registered an accidental death report (ADR) at the Walchandnagar police station under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, which is filed in cases of unnatural deaths such as suicide or accidents. A detailed inquiry is currently underway, and officials have assured that further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
