Faridabad Father Kills 4.5-Year-Old Daughter For Not Writing Numbers

Father in Faridabad arrested for beating his 4.5-year-old daughter to death over failing to write numbers up to 50.

In a chilling case from Haryana's Faridabad, Krishna Jaiswal, a daily-wage worker originally from Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh, has been arrested for allegedly murdering his 4.5-year-old daughter. The incident unfolded on January 21 in their rented home in Jharsaintli village, where Krishna stayed home to care for their three children while his wife worked. Enraged that the unschooled girl couldn't write numbers up to 50 during a "lesson," he beat her mercilessly, police revealed. The child, unconscious from the assault, was rushed to a government hospital but declared dead on arrival.

Krishna concocted a lie for his wife, claiming their daughter had fatally fallen down the stairs while playing. Upon arriving at the hospital, the mother spotted unmistakable signs of abuse: blue bruises blanketing the child's face and body, along with other injury marks. Deeply suspicious, she confronted hospital staff and immediately filed a complaint at the local police station. The Sector 56 Crime Branch acted swiftly, detaining Krishna and extracting a full confession during intense interrogation.

The couple, employed at a private firm, juggled shifts to manage their family—Krishna handling days, his wife nights. Their children included a 7-year-old son, the deceased 4.5-year-old daughter, and a 2-year-old. Krishna admitted to investigators that he took it upon himself to homeschool the middle child, viewing her failure to memorize numbers as a personal affront. The savage beating caused fatal internal injuries, as preliminary medical reports suggest blunt force trauma to the head and torso.

Faridabad Police spokesperson Yashpal confirmed the remand, with Krishna produced in court for one-day custody to probe deeper. Forensic analysis of the child's body is underway, potentially revealing the exact implements used in the assault. Neighbors described the family as reclusive, with no prior reports of domestic violence, though whispers of Krishna's short temper surfaced post-arrest. The case has ignited outrage over child safety in informal home setups.

This tragedy underscores the perils of unchecked parental frustration in low-income households, where preschoolers face immense pressure sans formal education. Experts note rising child abuse cases linked to "at-home teaching" in India, often masked as discipline. Child welfare activists demand stricter monitoring and counseling for working parents. The surviving siblings have been placed under protective custody pending investigation.

Police vow a thorough probe, including witness statements and home searches for evidence like bloodstains or teaching materials. "Justice will be swift; no child deserves this brutality," Yashpal stated. Updates on charges—likely murder under IPC sections—are expected soon as Faridabad reels from the monstrosity.
