Family of Vasant Kunj Hit-And-Run Victim Sarthak Mattoo Seeks Justice
Family of Delhi hit-and-run victim Sarthak Mattoo seeks justice.
The family of a 34-year-old man killed in a hit-and-run accident in South Delhi's Vasant Kunj is struggling to come to terms with the loss of their only child. Sarthak Mattoo died after an SUV allegedly hit his motorcycle in the early hours of June 25. Days after his death, his parents, Anuradha and Surender Mattoo, continue to live surrounded by memories of their son at their home in Gurgaon, where his room remains neat and unchanged.
The door of the Mattoo family's home opens directly into Sarthak's room, where his bed is still made and everything remains carefully arranged. For his parents, however, the room has become a painful reminder that their only son will never return. The family, who are Kashmiri Pandits, have been left devastated by the sudden tragedy and are finding it difficult to accept how quickly their lives changed after the fatal crash.
According to the family, Sarthak was riding his motorcycle in Vasant Kunj when he was allegedly struck by an SUV in the early hours of June 25. The collision proved fatal, leaving his parents without their only child. The accused driver, identified as 30-year-old Apurv Singh, a resident of Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested by police on June 27 in connection with the incident.

However, the accused was released on bail soon after his arrest, a development that has added to the family's pain and anger. Sarthak's parents are now seeking answers and accountability over the circumstances surrounding their son's death. For them, the loss has been made even harder by the feeling that the person accused of causing the fatal crash was able to secure bail shortly after being taken into custody.
Sarthak's mother, Anuradha, said the family's grief has gradually turned into anger as they struggle to understand what happened and whom they should hold responsible. Overcome with emotion, she said she did not know how to express her anger or against whom it should be directed. The family had reportedly begged Sarthak not to return before the tragedy, a memory that has now made their loss even more painful.
Sarthak's death has left his parents facing a future without their only child, while his untouched room continues to serve as a reminder of the life they shared with him. As the family mourns, they are also dealing with questions surrounding the hit-and-run case and the release of the accused on bail. Their grief has now become a demand for accountability as they seek justice for the 34-year-old.
