Duo Nabbed for Delhi Metro Gold Heist

Rs 3 Lakh Recovered in Metro Theft

Delhi Police arrested two men for stealing 141 grams of gold biscuits from a passenger on a moving Delhi Metro train, officials reported Sunday. The theft, which occurred between Bahadurgarh and Shadipur stations, led to the recovery of Rs 3 lakh in suspected sale proceeds.

The incident came to light on July 11 when commuter Amit Santra reported the theft of gold biscuits from his bag. A case was registered at Raja Garden Metro police station, prompting a swift investigation. Police analyzed CCTV footage from metro stations and coaches to identify the culprits.

On July 23, authorities apprehended Sonu Chand, 29, a habitual offender and paan vendor from Dabri with six prior theft cases. Chand confessed to the crime and admitted to selling the stolen gold. A raid on his residence recovered Rs 3 lakh in cash, believed to be the proceeds of the sale.
