Drunk Doctor Rams Scorpio Over Swiggy Rider in Gurugram Rage
Government doctor arrested for running over delivery agent in road rage.
A shocking incident of alleged road rage unfolded in Gurugram’s Sector 93, Hayatpur area on Monday night, when a government Ayurveda doctor, reportedly intoxicated, deliberately rammed his black Mahindra Scorpio into a Swiggy delivery agent and then repeatedly ran over him. The accused, identified as Naveen Yadav, who is posted at the Daulatabad Primary Health Centre, has been arrested by the police. The victim, Tinku Panwar, sustained serious injuries and was immediately rushed to the civil hospital in Gurugram for treatment, where he is currently undergoing medical care.
According to police investigations, the altercation stemmed from the doctor’s frustration over delivery agents frequently crowding the narrow street near a Swiggy warehouse. CCTV footage captured the horrifying sequence: the Scorpio making a right turn, striking a parked bike under a tree, and knocking down the delivery agent. When other riders protested and gathered nearby, the driver allegedly reversed the vehicle in a fit of rage, attempting to mow them down and crushing several bikes parked along the roadside in the process.
The doctor then sped away from the scene, leaving behind chaos and injured victims. Gurugram police swiftly tracked him down, seized the Scorpio SUV, and registered a case under attempted murder along with relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act and IPC. Authorities confirmed that alcohol influence played a role in the incident, though official medical reports are awaited to substantiate the claim. Eyewitnesses described the attack as premeditated and extremely violent, raising serious concerns about reckless behavior on public roads.

This disturbing episode has sparked outrage among local delivery personnel and residents, who often face harassment from impatient motorists in busy commercial pockets. Swiggy riders, who operate under tight delivery schedules, highlighted the daily risks they encounter on congested streets. The case once again brings attention to the growing menace of road rage in urban India, especially when alcohol consumption is involved, and underscores the urgent need for stricter enforcement of traffic rules and public awareness campaigns.
Police have assured a thorough probe into the matter, promising swift justice for the victim. The incident serves as a grim reminder of how minor annoyances can escalate into life-threatening violence on city streets. As Tinku Panwar fights for recovery, community leaders and gig economy workers are calling for better protection and designated parking zones near warehouses to prevent such tragic confrontations in the future.
