Drone And Sniper Plot Against White House UFC Event Leads To Eight Indictments

Eight charged over alleged White House UFC attack plot.

Eight men have been indicted on federal murder and terrorism conspiracy charges over their alleged involvement in a foiled plot to carry out a drone and sniper attack targeting a UFC event held at the White House in June. The indictment, returned by a federal grand jury in Ohio on Thursday, accuses the group of planning a coordinated assault using firearms, explosives and unmanned aerial vehicles before authorities disrupted the alleged scheme.

According to court documents, all eight defendants face charges under two separate conspiracy counts. The first alleges a conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, while the second accuses them of conspiring to commit murder on federal government property and to murder a federal government official. Prosecutors allege the suspects worked together over several weeks to prepare for the planned attack, though authorities have not publicly identified any specific federal official who was allegedly targeted.

The indictment states that the alleged conspiracy began in May, when members of the group started acquiring resources needed for the planned operation. Prosecutors claim they amassed cash, firearms, ammunition, body armour, explosives, drones, medical supplies, communications equipment and other materials that investigators believe were intended to facilitate the attack. The court filing outlines what authorities describe as an organised effort to prepare for a large-scale act of violence.

Despite the detailed allegations, court records do not indicate how close the suspects came to carrying out the plan before it was disrupted. Investigators have not disclosed the precise stage of the operation when law enforcement intervened or whether the group had conducted reconnaissance or final preparations. Officials have also not released further information about the methods used to uncover the alleged conspiracy or the agencies involved in the investigation.

The case underscores growing concerns among US law enforcement agencies over the potential use of commercially available drones in terrorist attacks. Security experts have repeatedly warned that unmanned aerial systems can be adapted to carry explosives or support coordinated assaults, prompting federal authorities to strengthen surveillance and counter-drone capabilities around major public events and government facilities.

Federal prosecutors are expected to present additional evidence as the case proceeds through the courts. If convicted, the defendants could face severe penalties given the terrorism-related nature of the charges and the alleged targeting of federal property and government officials. The indictment represents the formal initiation of criminal proceedings, and all eight men are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
