Police said the operation was carried out following specific intelligence inputs about counterfeit drug production. Teams tracked the supply chain before zeroing in on the illegal facility. According to officials, the key accused, Arun (59), was running the illegal drug unit without employing qualified chemists. Authorities said the operation violated multiple pharmaceutical safety norms. With the latest arrest, the total number of people held in the case has risen to nine. Investigators believe the group was supplying counterfeit medicines across multiple states. The syndicate is suspected to have been active for a considerable period.

Police sources said the manufacturing setup was designed to mimic legitimate pharmaceutical operations. Packaging materials resembling branded medicines were also recovered.
