Delhi Police Bust Drug Network In Delhi, Seizes 8.120 Kg Ganja, One Arrested

Delhi Police busted a drug network in Delhi and seized 8.120 kg ganja, arresting one suspect.

In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Delhi Police have dismantled a drug supply network and arrested one individual while recovering a significant quantity of ganja in the national capital. The operation was carried out in the Baprola area under the jurisdiction of the Outer District Police, officials said on Sunday.

According to police, the action was initiated after credible intelligence was received on May 14 regarding a suspected drug supplier planning to deliver contraband in the area during the evening hours. Acting swiftly on the input, a special team from the Outer District Special Staff, including SI Vipin Kumar and other personnel, laid a coordinated trap at the identified location with support from informers and supervisory officers.

During the operation, the police intercepted a suspect carrying a blue-coloured bag. Upon searching the bag, officers recovered multiple packets of ganja. The seized contraband was later weighed and found to be approximately 8.120 kilograms. The accused was taken into custody on the spot.

Police identified the arrested person as Altaf Alam, a 20-year-old resident of Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh. Officials said he was allegedly involved in supplying ganja across different parts of Delhi. A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further legal proceedings have been initiated.

Preliminary interrogation suggests that the accused was part of a wider supply chain, prompting investigators to trace the source of the contraband and identify other members linked to the network. Police officials added that efforts are underway to dismantle the broader drug distribution system operating in the region. Authorities reiterated their commitment to intensifying action against narcotics networks as part of ongoing anti-drug operations in the city. Further investigation in the case is continuing.
