Delhi Police Arrest Fake Judicial Officer, Seize Weapon And Documents

Police arrest fake judicial officer with accomplice, seize firearm in Delhi.

Delhi Police have arrested two men, including one who allegedly impersonated a judicial officer using forged documents, in a case that has raised concerns over misuse of official identities and potential security threats in the national capital.

According to police, the accused have been identified as Surya Agarwal (31) and Nikhil Yadav (21), both residents of Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh. The arrests were made by a team from the Parliament Street police station as part of a broader drive to detect suspicious activities and prevent security risks in the city.

The case came to light on April 5 when police intercepted a suspicious SUV moving without a registration number plate and with black-tinted windows, which are prohibited. Officers also noticed a sticker on the vehicle claiming “Judge, Uttar Pradesh Government,” which immediately raised suspicion and prompted a detailed inspection.

During the search, police recovered a pistol and multiple live cartridges from the occupants. Further verification revealed that Agarwal was allegedly posing as a civil judge and had produced forged identity documents and a fake authorization letter claiming permission to carry a firearm in Delhi. Authorities later confirmed that these documents had been digitally manipulated and were not genuine.

Investigators also found that while Agarwal possessed a valid arms licence issued in Uttar Pradesh, it was not applicable in Delhi, making the possession of the weapon illegal in the capital. In addition to the firearm and ammunition, police seized the SUV, fake identity cards, fabricated official letters, and stickers used to falsely project judicial authority.

A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act, and further investigation is underway to determine whether the accused were involved in other offences or part of a larger network engaged in impersonation and fraud. Police officials said efforts are ongoing to trace the source of the forged documents and assess any wider security implications of the case.
