Delhi LG Gives Appointment Letters To 1,647 DDA Recruits At Yamuna Sports Complex Event

Delhi Lieutenant Governor and Delhi Development Authority (DDA) Chairman T. S. Sandhu on Thursday handed over appointment letters to 1,647 newly recruited employees of the Delhi Development Authority, urging them to play a key role in building a “Viksit Bharat” and “Viksit Delhi” in line with the national vision for 2047.

The appointment ceremony was held at the Yamuna Sports Complex, where Sandhu addressed the new recruits and described the current period as part of India’s “Amrit Kaal,” a transformative phase in which decisions and actions taken today will shape the country’s future over the next two decades. He emphasised that the vision of a developed India is a central national goal under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Sandhu told the recruits that their role in the Delhi Development Authority is foundational rather than supportive, as their work will directly influence urban planning, infrastructure development, and the overall growth of the national capital. He said that the DDA, as a key land-owning and planning body, plays a crucial role in shaping how citizens experience the city in their daily lives.

The Lieutenant Governor also highlighted the challenges facing modern urban governance, including rapid urbanisation, environmental pressures, and rising public expectations. He said addressing these challenges would require not only technical expertise but also innovation, integrity, and a strong ethical framework in public service delivery.

He urged the new employees to approach their responsibilities with a sense of empathy and accountability, reminding them that every decision taken in public service affects citizens directly. He said that professionalism, transparency, and diligence would be essential in strengthening the credibility of the institution and improving governance outcomes in the capital.

The event was also attended by Union Housing and Urban Affairs Secretary Srinivas R. Katikithala, along with other senior officials. The new recruits will be deployed across various departments of the DDA, including administration, engineering, planning, and field services, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen urban development and infrastructure management in Delhi.
