Delhi Crime Branch Arrests Suspect In ISI-Backed Arms Trafficking Case
Delhi Police arrest ISI-linked operative in arms trafficking module.
The Delhi Police Crime Branch on Sunday announced the arrest of a key operative allegedly linked to an ISI-backed transnational arms trafficking and terror module, in a case that officials say involves the supply of sophisticated foreign-made weapons to organised criminal networks operating in the capital. The accused, identified as Praveen Kumar alias Tittu (45), is alleged to be a close associate of South Delhi gangster Rohit Chaudhary.
According to police, he was apprehended by a team of the Anti-Robbery and Snatching Cell (ARSC) of the Crime Branch during an ongoing investigation linked to FIR No. 49/26 registered on March 14 under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Arms Act, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Officials said an Italian-made semi-automatic pistol and five live cartridges were recovered from his possession at the time of arrest. The investigation is reportedly focused on a broader arms supply network allegedly operating through international channels and linked to organised criminal syndicates.
Police further stated that Praveen Kumar acted as a receiver and facilitator of illegal weapons supplied through a transnational trafficking module allegedly run by Shahbaz Ansari. Authorities claimed that 14 individuals have been arrested so far in the case, with the recovery of 25 foreign-made firearms, including a sub-machine gun, and 221 live cartridges.

Investigators also alleged that the network has connections to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), though these claims remain part of the ongoing probe. Police said Kumar, a resident of Khirki Extension in Malviya Nagar, was earlier involved in property-related disputes, illegal land encroachment, and betting operations linked to gang activities in the Aya Nagar area.
According to officials, Kumar had previously been on the police radar and was carrying a reward for his arrest before being taken into custody. His alleged associate, Rohit Chaudhary, has also been arrested in earlier encounters and faces multiple cases under organised crime laws, including the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
Police records indicate that Kumar has a long criminal history, with cases registered in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh involving serious charges such as attempted murder, kidnapping for ransom, extortion, rioting, and Arms Act violations. Investigators said further interrogation is underway to map the full extent of the alleged network and its operational links.
