Delhi 10/11 Blast Update: NIA Arrests Amir Rashid Ali for Aiding Delhi Suicide Bomber and Facilitating IED Vehicle

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Amir Rashid Ali, a resident of Pampore in Jammu and Kashmir, on Sunday, November 16, 2025, for allegedly conspiring with suicide bomber Umar Un Nabi in the deadly Delhi car bombing that killed 13 people on November 10. Ali, who was apprehended in the national capital, is accused of facilitating the purchase of the white Hyundai i20 used as a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (IED), with the car registered in his name, according to NIA investigators. The blast, which targeted a crowded market near India Gate, marked the most significant terrorist incident in the capital in over a decade and the deadliest since the April 22 Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 lives in Jammu and Kashmir.

NIA officials stated that Ali had travelled to Delhi specifically to assist Un Nabi in acquiring the vehicle, which was packed with explosives and detonated remotely during peak evening hours, causing widespread panic and structural damage to nearby shops and vehicles. Forensic analysis confirmed the use of high-grade RDX, while CCTV footage captured the i20 circling the area before the explosion. The agency, working in coordination with Delhi Police, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Haryana Police, Uttar Pradesh Police, and other units, is pursuing multiple interstate leads to dismantle the broader network behind the attack, including potential handlers and financiers.

The arrest comes amid heightened security alerts across major cities, with intelligence inputs suggesting the involvement of Pakistan-based operatives linked to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) offshoot, The Resistance Front (TRF), which claimed responsibility shortly after the incident. Un Nabi, a 28-year-old from Pulwama radicalised online, had entered Delhi two days prior, staying in rented accommodation arranged through local contacts now under scrutiny. Ali's detention has yielded crucial digital evidence, including encrypted communications and financial transactions traced to hawala channels, bolstering the case for a premeditated cross-border plot.

As investigations intensify, the NIA has sealed several properties in Pampore and conducted raids in Srinagar and Delhi's outskirts, recovering bomb-making materials and propaganda literature. The agency emphasised its commitment to unravelling the "larger conspiracy", with sources indicating more arrests imminent. This development underscores persistent terror threats despite recent diplomatic overtures, prompting calls for enhanced counter-terrorism collaboration and stricter border vigilance to prevent future urban assaults.
